nevadalivingI'm an avid collector of automatic time pieces, especially diver watches but always worry about wearing them and exposing them to the hazards of my job. So I began the hunt for a "realistic" everyday watch that could handle being exposed to knocks, chemicals, and impacts without breaking the bank. Enter the G-Shock line of watches! I'm going to make this a simple review:

pros: super lightweight that fits my 7" wrist perfectly (the wingy things actually help!)
awesome looks (negative display is not that hard to read and EL function set to 1 second is perfect for quick reads.
price!
Yes
Joseph BeckerThe fit is great. Double wings that sit under the watch bed provide sturdiness to the watch so that it does not move on your wrist. Material used in the watch are also superb. Through shower, work, pool swimming and workouts 6 days a week, it still retains its original look. Scratching this beautiful piece is hard to do.

Battery life (although solar powered) has only ever failed me once. Even with the 'tilt to illuminate' feature, I cannot believe how well the solar panels collect and retain so much energy. The watch still syncs to radio towers nearby at night and continues to be correct to the nearest second at all time.
Yes
Christian C. KunigPeople have complained about the fake (decorative) screws coming out of this watch. This hasn't happened to me; they are in there to stay as far as I'm concerned. If, on the other hand, you're in construction or automotive repair or something, maybe keep that in mind. The other thing people might not like is that it IS a little harder to read than a "normal" display. I don't mind at all; I like the looks of this watch. The backlight seems to be very low current and stays on for a very brief time to conserve battery power.Yes

Timex Expedition Shock XL Watch

The Timex Expedition watch has a stopwatch, countdown timer, and a vibrating alarm to tell time. The resin case passed the ISO standards for shock and water-resistant features.

The watch looks simple. Don’t let the appearance deceive you. It is a high-quality outdoor watch that surpassed torture tests, so extreme elements won’t be an issue.

diann davis martinI'm really liking this watch!!! I've not had it out in the wilderness yet but I've bounced it of several door jams and counter tops so far and not a scratch. Out of the box I was surprised at the size of it. I expected bigger, but not this big, and my first thought was "what was I thinking". It looked circus big, like really big, Big big. Even with the wider band it still looked way oversize. Have to admit I'm not a fan of these kind of bands and was my plan from the beginning to mate this with "The Band" brand Velcro watch band. I became a fan of "The Band" in the 90's and have used them ever since. I paired the watch with a wide version and this really changed the look and brought the watch into proportion. So enough about the proportion issue.Yes
JerryNice watch and well made. All the functions work and the alarm is pretty loud, just like the original digital vibrating Times that is black numbers on white background. The vibration is also about the same intensity as the original vibrating watch too. I will feel it under most circumstances but not strong enough for use on a motorcycle or piloting a plane. This watch has a pretty big blackout face, it looks very contemporary and kind of like the new smart watches.Yes
The ReviewerI was looking for a waterproof watch with a black face, but with a simpler look than the typical sports watch. This one isn't as simple looking as I would like, but is certainly better than most. One of the alarm choices is a vibrating alarm, which I love. The numbers are easy to see on the black face, even at an angle. My only complaint is the stiffness of the watch band. It can be difficult to take off because of how stiff it is. Maybe the band will last longer than the typical Timex watch?Yes

EddiePI've been wearing this watch for three months now. It works exactly as advertised to this point. I live in Florida and like to keep an eye on the weather when outside. The barometer function mirrors my home weather station closely. For example if the weather station indicates 30.04 the watch will indicate 30.03 to 30.05. The barometer trends the past six hours in two bars of three hours each. This way you can see if the barometric pressure is going up, down, or remaining relatively the same. If the pressure is falling quickly the down arrow will flash to let you know. Yes
Ben KnightI'm really glad that I made this purchase. I've been wanting one of these bad boys for quite some time, and after my third Timex breaking on me, I broke down and bought one.

I really enjoy the stopwatch and countdown features, I use them all the time, and I find myself using the barometer more and more. We had a few storms roll through a few days ago, and it was amazing at how fast the air pressure dropped. After a few hours of the constant decline my weather alarm went off, and I though that was pretty cool. Due to where I live, I really don't have much need of the altimeter, but it's still a nice feature to have.

The main reason that I bought the watch was for the compass feature, and it is probably my biggest complaint. Right after I bought the watch, it seemed as if I was constantly re-calibrating the compass, but it's getting a bit better. I don't have to do that near as often now, but that's the main reason that I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 stars instead of the full 5.
Yes
EddieThis Suunto has been around for a generation. My last one lasted 20+ yrs. and lived in the Bahamas with in/out of salt water constantly. It does the 4 main functions of time, pressure (alt + baro) as well as depth, and compass. Once you master the controls and menus, it's super easy to use and gives you all you need. This version has a "storm alert" which beeps when pressure drops quickly, fun and helpful feature.
Uses std convenience store quarter size battery, easy to change.

ESThis watch is fantastic, I'm very pleased that I finally just purchased it and didn't wait any longer. This is brand new and a legitimate Citizen watch that came in the new plastic box packaging. I also like the new box as opposed to the previous version; it's almost like a small Pelican case.
Personally I do not like metal bands on my watches, so immediately replaced the factory band with a green NATO style band. *Two things to note: The lug width is 22mm and any NATO band thicker than 1.5mm will NOT fit between the case of the watch and pins for the band.
Yes
TX BoyI bought this watch because it checked off a lot of things that were important to me. One is that is had to look good enough to wear just about anywhere. It is a nice watch and I wear it to the office, or outdoors, in jeans, in slacks, or anywhere really. It is not nice enough to go with a suite but I'm sure someone will try and pull it off. I can't do that though, but I will say if you like to swap bands out, put this on an olive colored NATO strap and it looks the business.

It's most important feature to me was that the watch case never has to be opened. (Because once its opened, whatever water resistence rating it had can be thrown out the window) This personal requirement of mine meant a Solar Watch, Kinetic, or some type of automatic. I choose solar because it is a quartz movement, and quartz is very accurate, this watch is no exception.
Yes
D. BrownVery nice watch. It offers several nice features, durability, style and value. It has a classic aviator look, but offers excellent modern conveniences, namely the solar Eco-Drive movement. The physical design is robust but not clunky, with the right balance of weight and size. It wears larger than its 42mm case width would suggest, yet it's not overstated or conspicuous. Plus it has the added peace of mind of a 200-meter water resistance rating, which although not really a typical aviator watch feature is still a welcome bit of extra performance. Yes

UwillieSeiko quality is clearly evident in this Kinetic GMT watch. It's big and heavy, but an excellent time keeper in an easy to use and maintain package. The GMT hand and bezel are a bit different from the 20 year old Navigator Timer that I have. The Kinetic fixes the bezel, whereas the Navigator Timer allows rotation of the bezel while it fixes the relationship of the 24 hour hand with the local time keeping hands. The Kinetic allows the user to set the local time hour hand independently, so the relationship of the 24 hour hand with the bezel is fixed. Yes
C. TateI got this for Christmas and started wearing it immediately. There is a two-second movement of the second hand until a suffient reserve charge is established. This took about a week of wearing. The band is long and even with my large wrist, I had to take a link out and make pin adjustments at the clasp. I consider this a good thing. The clasp is secure. The luminesence is very bright when recently exposed to light. It is a large and heavy watch so those used to light, all electronic watches may have some difficulty getting used to it.Yes
Tanzanite GalI bought this watch for my husband for Christmas through Amazon as the price was the best I could find. He has a large wrist and this watch was too big which was a pleasant surprise. A jeweler took care of that at no charge. He wears it all the time and so far has had no problems with it. It's a beautiful watch. It is a heavy watch compared to some, but he prefers that and the jeweler took out the right amount of links so it does not slide on his wrist.Yes
